What I'm going to tell you is not a funny story. It’s a true story.

A month ago, someone told me that I looked like Mrs. Sri Mulyani, the former Minister of Finance of Indonesia. Am I surprised when I heard that? No, because I believe that God creates us with seven faces.

 How similar are we? You can see two photos below.

Now, I'm gonna show you 6 other people who look like me. Here we go.

Me and Sandrina Malakiano.

Sandrina Malakiano started her carrier as an anchor at TVRI, then became a famous presenter at MetroTV.  After marrying Eep Syaifullah (a politician), Sandrina became a full housewife.

Nuruf arifin started her debuts as Kirana, a calm girl whom Naga Bonar fell in love with, in Naga Bonar (1987). Now she is a senator in House of Representative from Golkar Party.

In this photo, I admit Queen Rania's face is not like mine. Only her veil, maybe. Hoho.

Me and Shireen Sunkar, an Indonesian celebrity.

Shereen Sunkar became a famous actress after getting her role as Fitri, a girl who marry a rich guy, in soap opera at SCTV, Cinta Fitri. Unfortunately, I didn't marry a rich guy. :-)

I wore Mimi Hitam (Disney figure) costume for our office annual ceremony. My friends said, "Vera, you are really really like the witch."  :-(

And the last one, me and Asmuni, a comedian from Srimulat group. I wore beskap surjan (traditional clothes for Javanese man) and blangkon at my colleague's farewell party.

Now, you can laugh out loud. Laugh at me, and laugh at my insanity. :-D

A Person Who Has Made A Difference: Listiana Srisanti

Have you ever read Harry Potter? Do you know who the translator is? Yup, the translator's name is Listiana Srisanti.

Listiana was an editor and a translator of many children books, especially which was published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama (GPU). She was reliable, thorough, and smart. More over 500 titles of children book have been translated by her. A translation book became easy to read because Listiana translated it into simple yet right words.

Joined Gramedia Pustaka Utama since 1977, she became the first fiction editor in GPU. As a manager of fiction department, Listiana was in charged of getting the copyright of translation book. By her efforts, Indonesian children can read many books of famous author, e.g. Pippi Longstocking (Astrid Lindgren), The Little Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry), The Famous Five (Enid Blyton), Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (Road Dahl), The Walt Disney series, etc.

In 2000, her sharp instinct has taken GPU to get Harry Potter, whereas at that time GPU was not sure whether that thick book could be suitable for Indonesian children readers. And Listiana was right, Harry Potter hit the selling record!

Listiana has just not made a difference to Indonesian children, but surely, has made a difference to me.

In 1991, after graduating my high school, I couldn’t get to university.  I proposed to GPU as a corrector and typist. I met Listiana at that time and learnt much about editing, accuracy, and work dedication. Yes, Listiana very cared to her colleague.

In my third years at GPU, Listiana said to me, “Vera, if you want to be an editor, you have to get bachelor degree. Go to the UMPTN test and get your dreams!” I was very excited! After struggling for 5 five years, I graduated from University of Indonesia.

In 2010, Listiana passed away because of cervical cancer. She was not with us any more, but her spirit is always in our heart.
